Women Who Inspire Us

For our Spring 2017 presentation, we were thrilled to have women participate in our show who exemplify diversity in every size, look, color, and creed. Each woman’s story and beauty helped to bring the collection to life. We invite you to get to know these remarkable women and learn more about their accomplishments. Without further ado, meet the women of the Tracy Reese Spring 2017 Presentation.

Charli Howard

A model and writer originally from London, England, Ms.Howard has recently spearheaded a body diversity campaign entitled, "The All Woman Project" with friend and fellow empowerment activist Clementime Desseaux. Both stylish and gracious, Charli considers herself to be an in-between size model of healthy weight and refuses to succumb to the pressures of the industry.

Dana Cobbs

Dana has been modeling for years. She is also a social media maven, professional DJ, and a seasoned Digital Marketing professional, who has worked with top Fortune 500 firms on multiple advertising & branding projects.

Sasheer Zamata

Sasheer is an actress and writer based in NYC. You might recognize her as one of the many talented comedians on SNL. Named one of Cosmo's 13 Funny Women to Watch in 2014, she does stand-up worldwide, performs improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and is proud to be one of the ACLU's Ambassadors for Women's Rights.

Clementine Desseaux

Known for speaking out about diversity issues, this fierce model and entrepreneur shares a common goal with many: to promote diversity and inspire young women. Owner of the creative agency "Les Mijotes", Ms.Desseaux recently starred in and produced the #IAmAllWoman campaign alongside colleague Charli Howard promoting diversity of color and size in fashion.

Edris Nichols

Owner of EDRIS Salon: Recently voted as one of ELLE magazine's Top 100 Salons, Ms.Nichols is a beauty industry expert. Known for her uptown/downtown aesthetic and her multicultural approach to styling, Edris knows good hair.

Carla Dirlikov Canales

Opera singer, entrepreneur, and advocate for underprivileged youth, Ms.Canales is a force. She founded the Canales Project which aims to give voice to identity and culture, and also serves on the board of the President's Committee for the Arts and Humanities Turnaround Arts initiative, promoting arts education in public schools.

Kristi Henderson

Commonly known as the co-founder of the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network and Director of Special Projects & Partnerships at Planned Parenthood, Kristi is an advocate for all women. Formerly a social justice freedom fighter, Ms.Henderson spends her time working on diversity and empowerment projects and moonlights as a magical unicorn!

Bethann Hardison

Involved with fashion since the 60's; Bethann knows her industry. A runway model, agency owner, and Founder of the Black Girls Coalition, Ms.Hardison has helped launch the careers of some of the most famous models of our time.

Damaris Lewis

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Damaris is a model and avid volunteer who works closely with organizations such as Project Sunshine, Garden of Dreams, and The Boys & Girls Clubs of America. She is also owner of Golden Lenses Photo. "I'm blessed to be able to use my God given abilities to educate and entertain the world."

Sarah Johnson

Sarah is an arts educator, advocate, and leader of Carnegie Hall's educational and social impact programming. The Weill Music Institute produces an extraordinary range of music education and community programs each season, all of which are available to those in NYC and around the globe. Ms.Johnson is passionate about the role that music and the arts can play in individual lives, as a vehicle for supporting dialogue, and building connections in our complex world.

Susan Fales-Hill

A mother, writer, and philanthropist, Susan is a warrior for joy and humanity. Her critically acclaimed memoir, "Always Wear Joy" was a 2003 finalist for the NAACP Image Award and the Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Legacy Award for Nonfiction. Vice Chair of the Board for both the Studio Museum of Harlem and American Ballet Theatre, Ms.Hill is an inspiration and an advocate for the arts and social justice.

Danielle Meder

As a fashion artist, writer, and illustrator, Danielle specializes in sketching live at fashion shows, creating complex layered paper dolls, and helping fashion designers communicate their ideas. A regular contributor to the Style section of The Globe and Mail, the theme of Ms.Meder's writing is the ephemeral nature of fashion, beauty, and fame. Her first book, Draw Fashion Now, is a collection of interactive tutorials exploring the major theatres of
21st century fashion - runway, street style, and the red carpet.

Coco Mitchell

Coco Mitchell is a woman of many talents. After receiving her B.A. from CCNY, she spent three years teaching until Eileen Ford gave her a start in modeling. With a career that spans over 35 years, Coco is well known in the fashion industry. Passionate about mentoring young individuals and fundraising to provide college textbooks, she also supports “Voices for the Voiceless” to help children in foster care find forever homes.

Xin Ying

A Principal at the world-renowned Martha Graham Dance Company, Xin has commanded lead roles in performances such as Chronicle, Diversion of Angels, Errand into the Maze, and others since 2011. Born and raised in Yichun, China; she received the 2008 China Dance Lotus Award. Xin has been faculty at Sichuan College of Arts & Culture and a guest teacher at both the Beijing Dance Academy and Nanjing University of Arts. She believes in dreaming BIG, and that life on earth is limited but all the experiences we have are limitless.

Liliya Temes

Born and raised in Kazan, Russia Liliya believes in education and the environment. Both a model and actress, she graduated from Kazan State Tech University with a Bachelors of Science in Engineering and is continuing her education at the graduate level at NYU. Ms.Temes is a global citizen, an avid environmental activist, and enjoys meeting people from different walks of life and sharing knowledge and experiences.
